If I only had five computers I would have groups take turns using them. I would have each "expert" work at the same time finding information and then going to sit down, while the next experts go and use the computer. This way the same part is researching at the same time and can talk before presenting.
I think that the jigsaw method has a lot of advantages. I think that it will help students to really look deeper into material and listen to everyone else better. It gives them the practice of talking in front of people and for many students this is very hard for them and they need to have a lot of practice so they can get better and more confident. When I did this in high school I would quit thinking about the people in my group and whether I liked them or not but instead focus on presenting to them in the best way possible and listening to them so I could understand everything as well. The jigsaw method really pushes for people being equally responsible and knowledgeable.
I think that a disadvantage of this method is that perfectionists and people who overachieve have a hard time sticking to their task and not going way overboard with the information that they are presenting. I also think that for many students they get bored while doing this because its not fun for them to try to understand another student, instead they want to do it themselves.
